quinnavyre: (Glee Quinn & Mr Schue)
The word of the week I used is from this entry.

Title: Christmas
Fandom/original: Glee (SPOILERS for the whole first season – but not enough to ruin the plot, I think. Partly because the plot isn't great anyway. :P)
Characters: Quinn Fabray, Quinn's sister, (mentions Judy & Russell Fabray)
Rating: PG?
Word count: 481

I've always loved the scent of pine. It always reminds me of Christmas. It's the one time when my family seems happy and together. My mother always seems to drink less, and my father to be less concerned with his public profile. The atmosphere was always just lighter, and my sister and her husband have always helped with the mood.

This Christmas, that all went to hell. )

I was just listening to a couple of favourite songs I've (re)discovered recently, and really listening to the lyrics. I love beautiful songs with poetic lyrics, but they always seem to be sad or tragic or depressing. But they're so pretty I can't help but listen to them. I hope that doesn't make me masochistic. :P (Actually, now I wonder if they do affect my mood...)

So, has anyone got any songs with lovely lyrics that aren't sad/depressive?

My playlist (with commentary) and the meme... )

Pick 20 songs you never get sick of. They don't have to be in any particular order.

Pretty simple, huh?

1. Kryptonite - Three Doors Down
2. How to Save a Life - The Fray
3. Stand - Rascal Flatts
4. Path - Apocalyptica (also Farewell & Nothing Else Matters)
5. Don't Stop Believin' - Glee cast
6. Skin - Alexz Johnson
7. Play Doh Dreaming - James Dooley (Pushing Daisies soundtrack)
8. Blood Theme - Daniel Licht (Dexter soundtrack)
9. Snow White Queen - Evanescence
10. Birdhouse In Your Soul - Ellen Greene & Kristin Chenoweth (from PD)
11. The Song Remembers When - Kristin Chenoweth
12. The Eternal Vow - Tan Dun (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon soundtrack)
13. RĂ Na Cruinne - Clannad
14. Inara's Suite - Greg Edmonson (Firefly soundtrack)
15. Evacuating London - Harry Gregson Williams (Narnia soundtrack)
16. New Slang - The Shins
17. Dark Chest of Wonders - Nightwish
18. Zydeko - Cirque du Soleil
19. Defying Gravity - Idina Menzel & Kristin Chenoweth (Wicked soundtrack)
20. Hallelujah - Rufus Wainwright (or something by Live or U2)

PS. I also love Fascination by Alphabeat and Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go by Wham!, but I have been known to get sick of them after listening to them too much (especially Fascination :P). It was probably my own fault though - I was feeling down while trying to write my Honours thesis, and was listening to them to help pick me up. (They're so bouncy!) I have Suddenly I See by KT Tunstall in that same playlist - love that one as well!

PPS. For anything soundtrack or predominantly instrumental, there's a number of other songs I could have chosen from that soundtrack or by that same artist.

PPPS. As you can probably see, my taste in music is rather eclectic. :P (Note: I haven't chosen anything I've had for less than three months.)

I've made 36 icons and two banners from Kristin's appearance in Glee, as April Rhodes. I hope her character comes back!

Inspired by my current Glee obsession, I've made 40 icons from the 5th Glee episode, The Rhodes Not Taken. Most of them are of Kristin Chenoweth's character April Rhodes.
